Gang-Related Assault in Fillmore Leads to Multiple Arrests

Three individuals, including two minors, have been apprehended following a gang-involved assault in Fillmore, California, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The arrestees are Joel Alonzo, 24, and two teenagers aged 16 and 17.

Incident Overview

The incident occurred on March 7th at approximately 5:00 PM, when deputies received multiple reports indicating a large fight with 15 to 20 participants on the 800 block of Edison Lane. By the time law enforcement arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene.

Investigation and Apprehension

As authorities conducted their investigation, they uncovered evidence suggesting gang affiliation among the fighters. Shortly afterward, around 6:14 PM, deputies located four individuals believed to have participated in the altercation.

Upon seeing the deputies, these individuals fled on foot. Two suspects, including Alonzo and one of the juvenile suspects, were quickly apprehended, while the other two escaped into nearby orchards.

Search Operations and Additional Arrest

An extensive manhunt was initiated, involving the Sheriff’s Air Unit and several patrol teams. Approximately 38 minutes after the first arrests, a juvenile suspect was found hiding under a chicken coop and was subsequently taken into custody. Despite ongoing ground and aerial searches, the fourth suspect evaded capture, hampered by the challenging terrain and darkness.

Charges and Current Status

Following the investigation, additional evidence was discovered connecting the suspects to the violent encounter. Alonzo was placed on parole hold and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. The two juvenile suspects faced various charges:

  • One juvenile was charged with brandishing a firearm, brandishing a deadly weapon, street terrorism, and obstructing a peace officer.
  • The other juvenile was charged with battery, street terrorism, and obstructing a peace officer.

Both juveniles were cited and released to their parents or guardians.
