Destructive House Fire in Fontana Displaces Eight Residents
A severe house fire erupted in Fontana, California, on Sunday evening, leading to the heartbreaking loss of three pets and displacing at least eight residents. County fire officials reported that the incident occurred just after 6 p.m. in the 14000 block of Pine Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire crews discovered a well-established blaze rapidly consuming the rear of a single-story residence. Fortunately, the human occupants of the house managed to evacuate without injury. Tragically, two dogs and a cat lost their lives in the fire.
Firefighting Efforts
The San Bernardino County Fire Department detailed the response efforts in an X post, noting the urgency as flames propagated to a detached garage unit and threatened a neighboring property. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines both into the burning house and around its exterior to protect adjacent structures.
As part of the firefighting strategy, a ladder truck was utilized to ventilate the building effectively, while a total of 23 personnel were mobilized. Their collaborative effort was critical in preventing the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
Response and Impact
In total, the incident required the deployment of four engine companies, two paramedic squads, a ladder truck, a battalion chief, an investigator, and an information officer. According to the fire department’s report, the displaced individuals included two adult males, five adult females, and one male child. Assistance from the Red Cross was also requested to help those affected.
