Major Firearm Seizure in Camarillo Following Assault Investigation
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) made a substantial seizure of firearms and ammunition in Camarillo on Tuesday, uncovering an alarming stockpile that included at least one military-grade weapon.
Background of the Case
Authorities identified 38-year-old Jaqueline Randall as a suspect in a February incident involving assault with a deadly weapon. Investigators determined that an assault weapon was used in the crime, prompting further inquiry into Randall’s possessions.
Search and Arrests
As part of their investigation, deputies searched Randall’s vehicle, home, and property while detaining her. Also present in Randall’s car was 58-year-old Timothy Creech, a convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms or ammunition.
Evidence Collected
During the search of Randall’s vehicle, deputies discovered:
- Ammunition
- A usable amount of methamphetamine
As a result, Creech now faces multiple charges, including being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Further Findings at Randall’s Residence
In addition to the items found in her vehicle, deputies retrieved:
- A 9mm handgun
- Hundreds of rounds of various caliber ammunition
- Numerous high-capacity magazines for both rifles and pistols
Discovery of a Storage Unit Cache
Detectives also uncovered information indicating that a larger stockpile of firearms and ammunition had been moved to a storage unit in Camarillo before the warrant was issued. What they found there was staggering:
- 42 firearms, including an Intratec TEC-9 pistol and an AK-47-style rifle equipped with a bayonet and collapsible stock
- Several thousand rounds of various calibers of ammunition
- Hundreds of high-capacity magazines
Noteworthy Military Equipment
Among the discovered weapons was an ArmaLite AR-50 anti-materiel rifle that is specifically engineered to destroy vehicles and fortified targets. This weapon is designed to fire .50 caliber Browning Machine Gun ammunition, which has seen military use since 1933. Additionally, several hundred rounds of .50 caliber BMG were recovered.
Charges and Current Status
Randall was charged with unlawful transfer of a firearm and possession of a .50 BMG rifle. Both Randall and Creech were booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility but have since been released.
As of now, there is no available information regarding their upcoming court dates.
