Southern California Faces Mini Heat Wave This Weekend
The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned residents in Southern California to brace for a “mini heat wave” this weekend, with peak heat expected on Saturday. This weather event is likely to affect mostly inland communities while coastal areas will remain relatively cooler due to high atmospheric pressure.
Temperature Expectations
According to the forecast, temperatures in the region could soar between 88 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit, significantly above normal levels by 10 to 20 degrees. Specifically, Saturday is predicted to be particularly sweltering, potentially breaking more temperature records. Although Sunday will still be warm, forecasted highs may reach around 90 degrees.
Heat Advisory Issued
As a precaution, a Heat Advisory has been issued for many areas, including Ventura, Los Angeles, Riverside counties, and parts of southwestern San Bernardino County, effective until 9 p.m. Saturday. The advisory indicates that daytime temperatures may peak at approximately 103 degrees, with low overnight temperatures offering little respite from the heat.
Health Precautions
Officials have cautioned that this heat wave poses a heightened risk for heat-related illnesses, particularly among vulnerable populations. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak hours.
Weekend Outlook
This weekend’s weather forecast is particularly noteworthy for those planning outdoor activities. It’s crucial for individuals to prepare accordingly and pay attention to official updates to ensure safety during this period of increased heat.
