The victims, identified as a 77-year-old man and an 81-year-old woman from San Diego, were staying at the motel when the bullet struck their room. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that the suspect, Royce Roche, allegedly fired his weapon while in a neighboring room.
Suspect Identification and Behavior
After the shooting, surveillance footage captured Roche leaving the motel with a towel around his left hand, indicating possible injury. He managed to flee the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Roche is currently wanted in Colorado for a probation violation, and authorities caution that he may be armed and should be considered dangerous.
