Weekend Weather Alert: Showers and Cool Temperatures Expected in Southern California
Unseasonably Cool Conditions
Residents of Southern California should brace for a weekend marked by decreased temperatures accompanied by light rain. Following a noteworthy drop in temperatures mid-week—approximately ten degrees below seasonal norms—the forecast hints that these cooler conditions will persist into the weekend.
Forecast Details
According to meteorologist Henry DiCarlo from KTLA, Saturday morning is likely to bring a round of showers. “Look at Saturday morning … We get a wave of showers Saturday morning. Then we get some unsettled conditions into your Sunday morning as well,” he noted. The National Weather Service (NWS) anticipates that rainfall amounts will generally be low, estimating totals ranging from one-tenth to one-third of an inch in some areas of Los Angeles County.
The forecast entails:
- Showers expected primarily on Saturday morning, predominantly affecting San Luis Obispo (SLO) and Santa Barbara (SBA) counties.
- Rainfall is projected to shift into Ventura (VTU) and Los Angeles (L.A.) counties by late morning to early afternoon.
Mountain Weather and Snowfall Likelihood
Higher elevations are also set to experience wintery conditions, as snow levels are predicted to hover between 4,500 and 5,550 feet, with the possibility of several inches accumulating above the 5,500-foot mark.
Upcoming Warmth
Fortunately for those anticipating warmer weather, a warming trend is expected early next week, bringing temperatures back in line with seasonal averages.
Stagecoach Music Festival Outlook
For attendees of the Stagecoach music festival this weekend, there may be a mix of weather conditions to navigate. “Maybe you’re driving through drizzle or cloudy conditions and then you head over the mountains to get into the Coachella Valley, and all of a sudden it’s like a whole different world with the sunshine and warm weather. I think that’s what we’re looking at this weekend,” DiCarlo explained.
