Search Continues for Missing Las Vegas Veterinarian Dr. Shawn Frehner
Authorities are actively searching for Dr. Shawn Frehner, a 56-year-old veterinarian from Las Vegas, whose last sighting was reported on Sunday, April 6. Dr. Frehner entered the Lake Mead Recreational Area via the Boulder entrance in the morning, and his truck was later discovered abandoned at Hemmenway Harbor, with personal items such as his keys, wallet, and cellphone still inside.
Details Surrounding His Disappearance
Since the discovery of his vehicle, law enforcement and search teams have been working diligently to locate Dr. Frehner. Investigators have made a public appeal for information, stating, “You don’t have to tell us who you are, but please tell us what you know.”
Described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 190 pounds, Frehner’s family has expressed concerns but reportedly does not believe he would engage in self-harm, according to a missing person report.
Background on Controversial Incident
Earlier this month, Dr. Frehner faced public backlash following the release of a video showing him kicking a horse he was attending to at a property in Nevada. The horse, which was receiving anesthetic shots, sustained injuries that were documented by the property owner, Shawna Gonzalez, who expressed dismay at the conduct exhibited by Frehner during the procedure.
After the incident, Frehner publicly apologized on social media, stating, “I did not blatantly haul off and kick this horse as it appears in the video. That was not my intention at all.” He further acknowledged the incident and conveyed regret, wishing it had never occurred.
Ongoing Investigation
In light of the situation involving the horse, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office has initiated a criminal investigation into allegations of animal cruelty against Frehner. The investigation coincides with efforts to locate him, as search and rescue operations continue in the Lake Mead area.
Previously, in 2016, the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners placed Frehner’s veterinary license on probation for a year, indicating a history of professional scrutiny.
Call for Public Assistance
