The Los Angeles Dodgers opened their latest homestand with a dramatic 6-5 comeback victory over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night, August 10, at Dodger Stadium. Kansas City quickly answered, however. Kyle Isbel hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5. The homer made the final innings particularly tense, with both teams once again searching for the decisive run.
Los Angeles responded immediately.
Shohei Ohtani started the Dodgers’ winning rally with a single and then stole second base. It was his first stolen base since May 16. His aggressive baserunning put him in position to score when Freddie Freeman followed with a single.
Freeman’s hit brought Ohtani home and gave the Dodgers a 6-5 advantage. The run ultimately became the deciding score of the game.
Ohtani had already contributed earlier in the contest, recording an RBI double. His combination of hitting and baserunning made him one of the most influential players in the Dodgers’ comeback.
