TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State University (FSU) has made significant strides in strengthening its 2026 football recruiting class by securing commitments from two promising athletes: offensive lineman Jakobe Green and four-star safety Jay Timmons. These additions bring the Seminoles’ total number of commitments to 19, positioning them among the top recruiting classes nationally.

Jakobe Green, a 6-foot-3, 335-pound offensive lineman from Gadsden County High School in Quincy, Florida, previously committed to Mississippi State before flipping to FSU. Green chose the Seminoles over offers from several other programs, including Boston College, Florida, Miami, Ole Miss, UCF, and West Virginia. Known for his versatility, Green played right guard at Niceville High School and also contributed on the defensive line, recording 24 tackles and three sacks last season. Nicknamed “Big Show,” he is recognized for his strength and pulling ability, though he aims to refine his physique to meet collegiate demands.

Jay Timmons, a four-star safety from Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, is the son of former FSU linebacker and NFL veteran Lawrence Timmons. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 185 pounds, Timmons is ranked as the 403rd best player nationally and the 13th best in Pennsylvania by 247Sports Composite. He initially committed to Indiana University but flipped to FSU after an impressive performance at the Seminoles’ June camp. Timmons showcased his versatility last season, contributing significantly on both defense and offense, and helped lead his team to a state championship.

With these commitments, FSU’s 2026 recruiting class now includes 12 blue-chip players, reflecting the program’s ongoing efforts to build a competitive team under head coach Mike Norvell. The Seminoles’ class is ranked No. 9 nationally by 247Sports and No. 12 by On3. Other notable recruits in the class include four-star quarterback Jaden O’Neal, running back Amari Clemons, and wide receivers Efrem White and Brandon Bennett.

FSU’s recent recruiting success demonstrates the coaching staff’s ability to attract top talent and address key positional needs. The addition of Green and Timmons not only strengthens the offensive line and secondary but also adds depth and legacy to the program. As the Seminoles continue to build their roster, these commitments are pivotal in shaping the team’s future competitiveness.
