O.J. Simpson’s Inscribed Bible Sells for $80,276 at Auction
A Bible once gifted to former NFL star O.J. Simpson by his friend and attorney Robert Kardashian Sr. fetched a remarkable sum of $80,276 during an auction held by Goldin Auctions.
The auction took place on Saturday, featuring a total of 49 bids before the Bible was finally acquired by an anonymous buyer.
A Personal Token from a Loyal Friend
The Bible in question is a personalized copy of The Living Bible, which Kardashian presented to Simpson during a highly turbulent period in his life. Accompanying the gift was a heartfelt inscription penned by Kardashian himself, dated June 18, 1994—the day after the highly publicized Ford Bronco chase.
According to the auction listing, the inscription read:
“O.J., This book will help. God loves and he will speak to you with his words. Read this book everyday. God has a definite plan for your life. You are his child and he will use you again. I love you and God loves you.”
Kardashian signed the inscription simply as “Robert.”
A Lasting Friendship and Legal Legacy
The friendship between Kardashian and Simpson dates back to the late 1960s when they were both students at the University of Southern California (USC). Their bond only deepened over the years, with Simpson serving as the best man at Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Houghton in the late 1970s.
Robert Kardashian played a significant role in Simpson’s life, especially as a member of the defense team during Simpson’s highly publicized murder trial in the mid-1990s. This legal team, often referred to as “The Dream Team,” ultimately led to Simpson’s acquittal of the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in 1995.
Family Interest and Auction Outcome
Notably, Kardashian’s daughter, Kim Kardashian, was reported to have made an attempt to acquire the Bible before the auction, reportedly offering $15,000. Her offer was declined, allowing the Bible to reach the auction market where it ultimately sold for a significantly larger sum.

This sale underscores not only the personal significance of the item but also its historical importance tied to one of the most controversial figures of American sports and legal proceedings.
