LA28 Partners with Snowflake to Revolutionize Olympic Data Collaboration

by LA Highlights Team

The organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Snowflake, a premier data cloud analytics provider, to serve as its official data collaboration partner. This alliance is poised to significantly modernize how data is managed and utilized across Olympic operations—from athlete performance to fan engagement—marking a technological leap in preparations for one of the world’s most anticipated sporting events.

Snowflake’s data collaboration platform will act as a centralized hub for organizing and analyzing information critical to the success of the Games. This includes athlete training metrics, medical and health records, nutritional data, and logistics coordination. It also supports the development of personalized digital experiences for fans, whether they are watching events in person, via streaming platforms, or following coverage on social media.

John Slusher, CEO of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Properties, emphasized the significance of this partnership in scaling the operational capacity of the LA28 Games. He noted that with tens of thousands of athletes, staff, and volunteers expected, along with millions of spectators worldwide, it is essential to have a robust data infrastructure in place to ensure seamless execution and user engagement.

By leveraging Snowflake’s scalable and fully managed cloud solution, Team USA and the broader LA28 organizing body will gain real-time insights into performance optimization, athlete welfare, and spectator trends. The system’s ability to merge and process vast datasets quickly will support smarter decision-making and more responsive operations during both the Olympics, scheduled for July 14–30, 2028, and the Paralympics, from August 15–27, 2028.

This partnership also underscores a broader movement within global sports toward integrating advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence to drive efficiencies and innovation. The LA28 organizing committee aims to set new standards for data-driven sports management, with Snowflake’s AI tools playing a pivotal role in extracting actionable insights from complex datasets.

Denise Persson, Chief Marketing Officer at Snowflake, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that the LA28 Games represent an extraordinary platform to demonstrate the transformative power of data. She highlighted that Snowflake’s technology is uniquely suited for secure and scalable data sharing, which will allow stakeholders across the Olympic ecosystem to collaborate more effectively and innovate in real time.

The LA28-Snowflake collaboration is one of several high-tech partnerships already announced for the upcoming Games. Other key partners include Cisco, which will provide network infrastructure, and Autodesk, supporting architectural and engineering design. These collaborations collectively aim to ensure that the 2028 Olympics not only meet but exceed expectations in terms of organization, innovation, and audience impact.

Importantly, Snowflake’s contribution extends beyond logistics. The platform is designed to deliver tailored content and interactive experiences to fans, creating a more immersive and personalized Olympic experience. Whether it’s curated highlights, behind-the-scenes access, or real-time stats tailored to individual preferences, the Games will provide a deeper level of engagement for audiences around the globe.

As LA28 enters a critical phase of planning and infrastructure development, the integration of cutting-edge technology through strategic partnerships like that with Snowflake is expected to be a game-changer. The aim is clear: to produce a technologically advanced, inclusive, and memorable Games that reflects the diversity and dynamism of Los Angeles itself.
