Lexie Hull Leads Indiana Fever to Dominant Victory Over Chicago Sky in Commissioner’s Cup

by LA Highlights Team

CHICAGO — The Indiana Fever delivered a commanding 79–52 victory over the Chicago Sky on June 7, 2025, in a WNBA Commissioner’s Cup matchup at the United Center. Guard Lexie Hull played a pivotal role, showcasing her defensive prowess and contributing significantly on offense. This win marks the Fever’s second triumph over the Sky this season and elevates their record to 4–4.

Despite the absence of star rookie Caitlin Clark, sidelined with a quadriceps strain, and head coach Stephanie White, the Fever demonstrated depth and resilience. Hull, maintaining her starting position, was instrumental in both ends of the court, reflecting her season-long consistency.

The Fever’s balanced attack saw four players scoring in double figures, with Kelsey Mitchell leading with 17 points. Aari McDonald, a recent hardship signee, contributed 12 points off the bench. The team’s cohesive performance underscores their adaptability and strength beyond their marquee players.

The Sky, hosting their first-ever game at the United Center, struggled offensively, recording their lowest point total since 2011. Rookie Angel Reese secured 12 rebounds but managed only four points on 2-for-7 shooting. Head coach Tyler Marsh emphasized collective responsibility, stating, “It’s not about Angel being better for us, it’s us being better for Angel.”

The Fever’s defensive strategy effectively stifled the Sky’s offense, limiting them to 0-for-15 from beyond the arc and forcing nine steals. This defensive dominance, combined with efficient ball movement and scoring, highlights the Fever’s potential as a formidable contender in the Eastern Conference.

Looking ahead, the Fever aim to build on this momentum as they anticipate Clark’s return, potentially as early as their next game against the Atlanta Dream on June 10. The Sky, now at 2–5, will seek to regroup and address their offensive challenges in upcoming matchups.
